Essential Swimwear Swimsuit Goes on All my Travels #SummerSplash

Essential-Swimwear-Bathing-

I am landlocked here in Colorado. That means, I don’t have a beautiful ocean nearby where I can enjoy in the warm summer months. BUT, I am also a flight attendant. So luckily, I get to fly to places that do. Like Hawaii. Or Mexico. Yes, I am spoiled in that way.Going to these beach destinations weekly means I haven’t lost my tan in about 6 months. :) It also means I need plenty of cute bathing suits to wear, since I wear them often. One shop that has great bathing suits that fit my needs and insecurities but is also very affordable… Essential Swimwear.
I got my first essential swimwear suit about 2 years ago. This was before I even was a blogger. At the time, I followed another blogger that reviewed one. The review was thorough, but it was the pictures of the bathing suit that sold me. The suit was modest, slimming and in a smashing color. It was everything I was looking for in a bathing suit. So I got one that day! Since then I have worn it dozens of times. Its been to Hawaii, Mexico, Thailand and Greece. Literally, it has been nearly everywhere I’ve traveled since then! I’ve received a ton of compliments on it. It is by far one of the best bathing suits I’ve owned.essential-swimwear-2012So just a few months ago, when I received an email about Essential Swimwear’s new additions, I went straight over to check them out. The new variety of swimwear were the same in modesty and cuteness, but different in style and design. Of course, I couldn’t live without one!

I emailed Essential Swimwear about reviewing a suit from the line, and luckily for me they agreed! They sent me the stunning Ruched Halter Top and Swim Bottoms in Ocean Blue.ocean-halter-tankini-essent

Ocean Ruched Halter Top & High Waist Bottoms

This suit takes two separate pieces, and forms an adorable swimsuit. You can customize the length of the halter by the amount of ruching you do – make it look like a dress or a tankini.

The swim top is a long, halter-style top with ruching that criss-crosses at the bust and continues down to the bottom edge. The ruching at the top bust area is more dramatic, and it simmers as it goes down. This creates a very slimming and flattering look. The top also is lined with a built in bra that is seamless and soft. This provides some extra support.

The bottoms are high-waisted, but versatile. I can choose to wear them in a few way. One way is all the way up – grandma style. When worn this way, they touch my belly button, but it helps flatten the tummy! Or I can wear them folded down into a waistband. This is my favorite way to wear them. It is a cute look, and almost looks like a skirt.

The fabric of the swimsuit is nylon/spandex – both soft and stretchy. The fabric is thick – so you don’t run the risk of it being see-through. It is a great suit for swimming in the ocean or just laying out on the deck!

This suit makes me feel like a women. I am very curvy as is, and this suit doesn’t hide them, but doesn’t point them out like a bikini does. It flows against my curves creating a womanly shape that doesn’t flash a big red arrow to the flaws. :) The tank top is long enough that I can wear it over the entire length of the swim bottoms to cover the full portion of my hips. This style is my favorite and make it look like a swim dress. I love the vintage-look of this swimsuit, and it is sure to be one of my new favorites!

More about Essential Swimwear: The owner, Brittney started the company in a very cool way. She began by sewing and creating her own swimsuits. Then got requests from friends and family members. The word was spreading fast, because they were comfortable, stylish and took women’s needs into account. She focused on women’s insecurities and frustrations, and turned them into comfortable, flattering swimsuits. Now because the demand is so great, they are manufactured and sold online at Essential Swimwear!

Purchase a Swimsuit: You can find the two pieces I reviewed online. The Ruched Halter Top ($36.99) and High Waist Bottoms ($18.99). They also have may other suits available for reasonable prices. In fact, they have some from last year on MAJOR sale too!

Win a Swimsuit: Essential Swimwear is giving away a $50 gift certificate as a part of the Summer Splash Event! You don’t want to miss this great prize and many more!

DownEast Basics Apparel & Swimwear

Down-East-Basic-Swimsuit-Polka-DotsIt’s swim suit season. Did those words make you cringe a little? If so, you aren’t alone. If you are like me, you have gained a few pounds after being dormant in the winter and your last season bikini might not be as flattering as it once was.

Ugh, frustrating, I know. But luckily, DownEast Basics has swimwear that fools the eye of those 5 pounds 8 pounds that were gained!

From dresses to sweaters and swimwear, DownEast Basics is one of the hottest shops around! I seriously love almost every new item they have, and they’re constantly changing their selection! Love that! <3

The swimwear options are not enormous and overwhelming – just a small selection of a few quality suits. Down-East-Basics-Swimwear-Bottom-Black

The selection of swimsuits are designs that I love – girly and adorable – polka dots, flowers, ruffles and more! Not only am I a huge fan of the cutesy-look of these summer suits, I am a HUGE FAN of the product. I have the Sunset Swim Dress in the color Sugar Coral and it is my go-to suit this season!

There are so many features I love about this suit. Most importantly I love how it makes me feel. It doesn’t make me feel a self conscious like a bikini does – because of the coverage. The swim dress is different from a tankini – because it goes past my belly and covers up the midsection completely – oh, and it doesn’t ride up! I am not constantly pulling it Down-East-Basics-Swimwear-Summer-2011down and each time reminded that I am trying to hide my tummy.

The suit is a tummy taming miracle suit! The scrunching on the side adds texture, therefore it gives the appearance of a flattened tummy. Anything that will fool the eye of my stomach – that I am so self conscious about! The halter style seems to focus more attention to the neck and face! This suit conceals the tummy and is very forgiving, it is seriously universally flattering, available in sizes xxs-xxl.

Beyond just my waist, another thing I am always worried about with suits is the boobage – but the built in shelf bra holds them very well!! Woot! Not too much cleavage with this heart shaped halter neckline! A few other things I noticed about the suit – the inside lining is soooo soft, the large fits me (size 8 ) nicely and the color is smashing!

This swimsuit from DownEast Basics is a absolute must-have for your vacation swimwear. No need to change suits everyday, you’ll only need to pack this swimsuit, because you’ll feel so comfortable wearing it!
