Acupressure is a natural form of healing that has been used in Chinese and Indian cultures for over 5,000 years. Although, it is still relatively new to Western civilization, it is growing very quickly!! There are many practitioners learning acupressure techniques and there are ways you can do acupressure yourself at home, like with the acupressure mat.
I have always been interested in acupressure points, like those foot and hand maps, which I’m sure you’ve seen. But I had never done acupressure to myself! So reviewing Heavenly Acupressure Mats was an fun, interesting experience!
About the mat: Unlike the way acupressure mats have been made in other countries with nails and wood, this mat is made up of round non-toxic plastic acupressure points. These plastic points consist of 8,820 contact points total. The Heavenly Mat is 29″ by 17” inches and the exterior is made from cotton and the interior is squishy rubber foam.
Uses of mat: There are a number of different ways to use the mat depending upon where you have aches, pains. The simple instructions will explain how to get the maximum benefit out of a Heavenly Acupressure Mat. But basically, you place your acupressure mat on a flat surface, such as a bed, couch, or floor and lay on it in different positions. It is more effective with direct contact.
Acupressure mat may help:
· Relieve Stress
· Relieve Anxiety
· Relieve Muscle Tension
· Relieve Back & Neck Pain
· Increase Blood Circulation
· Alleviate Insomnia
· Relax Deeper
How it works: By targeting pressure points in the body, this acupressure mat triggers the release of endorphins and oxytocin – which in turn can help the body by relieving pain and stress.
My take: I tested this mat out first with a thin layer in between the mat and I (like it suggested for first timers to get used to the sensation). I laid flat with my back on it and it wasn’t painful, like I was expecting! It suggested to expect some minor discomfort for the first few minutes when using it for the first time and then work your way up to higher time, but I laid on it for about 10 minutes and didn’t feel uncomfortable.
My position of choice is to lay on my side or back and also to prop it up and use it on my neck. I did not like standing on it! I tried a few times to get use to the tingly sensation, and I just couldn’t! My feet might be too sensitive – it felt like pins and needles! Like that feeling you get when your arm ‘falls asleep’.
Overall, there are a few positions that worked for me and I will be using this mat again. It was relaxing and took some tension off of my back and neck (I carry all stress here). I like the idea of being able to use the mat at anytime in my own home. It is much cheaper than a specialist!
I suggest this product for: If you’re stressed, have body pains or want to restore your body’s natural balance, this might be a solution for you! Heavenly Acupressure Mats are an easy and affordable way for you to enjoy the benefits of acupressure in the comfort of your own home. The top reasons for using an acupressure mat are pain relief, stress relief, increased energy levels, and relaxation.
