Have you read about the severe turbulence that injured passengers just the other day?
I thought I would rant for a second. Is that okay? I am a flight attendant so of course this story is real and true to me. Therefore I must share my opinion. 🙂 I very much feel for those that were injured while walking around or in the bathroom, injuries were obviously unavoidable, and it is so unfortunate you were hurt. But for those who were sitting in their seats, nope – it’s your own darn fault. I think it is so bizarre that people put great importance on wearing their seatbelts in their car, but when they are on planes they seem to forget how important seatbelts are! Why?? I have little to no sympathy for the passengers that didn’t listen to the MANY reminders to wear their seatbelts at all times during the flight. As a flight attendant, we don’t just make the announcements because it is fun for us. We don’t do the safety demo 1-6 times a day because we like putting on a yellow lifevest and demonstrating how to clasp your seatbelt tight and low around you. Of course not! We do these things because you are supposed to be listening! It is for your safety, not for us!
I am sorry for those of you that are already afraid to fly, but just so you know only 60 people annually are injured from turbulence (2/3 of them being flight attendants). This particular story is an extreme case of clear air turbulence, which nobody, not the pilots or air traffic control have any ability to predict.
Summary: Please just wear your seatbelts like I we told you.
