Disclosure: Sprouts sponsored this event at Cook Street Denver.
I shop at a few grocery stores. Each store has it’s own uniqueness, but ONE stands out more than the others. The store I frequent the most and enjoy the most is Sprouts Farmers Market. I find all kinds of fresh produce, gluten free products and healthy options at Sprouts = that is why it is my favorite grocery store.
Every week I pull the Sprouts ad from the mail flyers to examine the weekly sales… and Sprouts has the BEST sales! I plan my weekly meals and make my shopping list based on what is on sale at Sprouts! Seriously, I do!
Sprouts has the best produce deals and has huge savings on Wednesdays with “Double Ad Wednesday”. This incredible deal means Wednesday is my favorite day to shop and save money!
So, when Sprouts invited me to Cook Street for a Blogger Pizza Party, I was all about it!
Where: Cook Street School of Culinary Arts
Cook Street is a unique culinary experience in the heart of downtown Denver. There are two sides to Cook Street – there is the school side, which is a 16-week culinary arts curriculum for the professional chefs and then there is the classes for the home cook.
A recreational class is what we participated in while we were there.
Who: Sprouts Farmers Market
Sprouts hosted this event and did a lovely job! When we first entered the room is was decorated with “Every Day I’m Brusselin” re-usable tote bags filled with Sprouts goodies. We were also equipped with Sprouts aprons – because it was going to be a messy night!
First… Dessert
The first thing we learned how to make was the sweet corn ice cream. A mixture of corn, heavy cream, sugar and egg yolks… we made this first so it had time in the freezer to turn into the creamy ice cream custard we could enjoy at the end.
Hands On Dough Making
Next we separated into smaller groups to make our pizza dough! There were a few of use who were gluten free so we had our own station for making our gluten free dough. The ingredients were all portioned out for use, so we just went followed the directions and left it to rise!
Perfecting My Pizza Making Skills
While the dough was rising, we prepared toppings and cheese.
Making homemade mozzarella was a first for me – and what a neat experience ti was to make it! The key to mozzarella was very hot water to keep it stretchy and flexible! We also got a quick lesson on homemade pesto and tomato sauce.
There was a selection of pizza toppings, all which were available from Sprouts. We topped our pizza with pepperoni, fresh herbs, vegetables and of course our homemade cheese!
Simple Salad Turned Gourmet
We turned some basic mixed greens into a gourmet salad with some Sprouts cheese curds and Sprouts peaches. We halves the peaches and threw them on the grill for a nice charcoal taste – and it looked pretty too! Yum, grilled peaches. Just a couple simple touches to make this salad look like it was from a restaurant!
Putting it All Together
The pizzas had been topped, grilled in the wood fire pizza oven and now it was time to enjoy our hard work! The gluten free crust turned out really nice – I loved the texture of the polenta on the outside to keep it from sticking (I usually use GF flour). The salad was crisp and refreshing!
What a delicious meal!
Wrap Up
What a fun evening spent with some new friends (and some blogger friends I already knew!) Sprouts was a wonderful host and I learned about a few Sprouts products that I have never bought before – The Buttermilk Green Goddess Dressing – is on my next shopping list!
Thank you, Sprouts!
