A robbery in your neighborhood, your car broken into, a close call with a stranger. It is tragic that we only put concern for our safety after our safety has been compromised.
It shouldn’t be after some incident that we finally start to think about our safety. We should always be prepared, especially since it only requires a few simple steps.
This is why I’ve decided to take some responsibility for my own life, I want to prepare myself for danger. No, I don’t want to go through life being scared of every strange person and every dark parking lot. But I do want to be smart and not naive to the dangers around me.
3 ways that I will be preparing myself are:
(I will have a 3 part series for each safety prep topic)
1. Carry Pepper Spray
2. Take a self defense course
3. Be aware of my surroundings
1. Carry Pepper Spray
I have always thought about keeping pepper spray on hand, but never took the initiative to find it. I had a few concerns before I could ever see myself using it:
Concern: “Where do I even buy pepper spray?”
The first thing I did was search Google. I quickly found a great company at www.pepperspray.com. They have a lot of options for self defense products (Pepper Spray, Mace Spray, Sabre Spray, Stun Guns & more). These products were impressive AND also had very reasonable prices. Their company goal was simple: Keeping me safe. I appreciate that the site features a HELP section that answers some of the most common frequently asked questions. I got in contact with Amy at pepperspray.com, she was extremely helpful and eager to answer my questions and concerns. It was a relief to speak with someone so knowledgeable and willing to please the customer.
Concern: “Is it safe around kids and others?”
This was a HUGE concern for me. I would never want something potentially dangerous around kids or any innocent person! I was glad to hear the self defense products have a range of safety caps to reduce the risk of accidental discharge. I was able to test the Vexor hardcase pepper spray – and the safety lever is on the top, so it is accessible, yet you have to manually move it over in order for the pepper spray to spray the contents. After testing, I feel assured that it won’t be going off by itself.
Concern: “Will it even be handy if I ever do need to use it?”
There is no point in having pepper spray if you can’t have it accessible within seconds – when you really need it. Pepperspray.com has many units that attach to your belt clip or keyring. The Vexor hardcase pepper spray that I tested has a keyring attachment right on it. This is a practical unit for me, since I always have my keys in hand. It is also easy to clip onto some of my purses that have a keyring in them. With many units that have keyrings attached to them, it is easy to attach it anywhere you think would be handy.
Overall: This was my first post in the series of safety preparation. I highly recommend a self defense product such as pepper spray for an easy way to be prepared for danger. I am happy with the company pepperspray.com and the product I received. Take a look at the selection at pepperspray.com, there is sure to be one right for your needs and concerns (they even have products that look like pens and lipstick)!
