Review: Sanuk Shorty Sidewalk Surfer Shoes

by Karissa 1 Comment

Do you purchase shoes based on comfort or style? Seriously, why does it seem like we always have to choose one or the other? Is it just impossible to get the best of both worlds?

Sanuk-Shorty-Shoe-ReviewOf course not! Although, it may seem like many shoe brands are one or the other… Sanuk is both!

Sanuk, pronounced “Sah Nook” has been one of my favorite brands for awhile now. I love almost every shoe they design(literally 99% of them) and when I see a new style on the street – I get caught starring! No seriously, it’s kinda embarrassing!

Sanuk has been around since July 1997 when Jeff Kelley began making sandals out of inner tubes and indoor-outdoor carpet! Neat! 1998 marked their first full year of operations. Jeff’s spirit of innovation still serves as the backbone of their brand. Today, they strive to make products that are as much about funk as they are about function.

And I agree – they do a great mix of both funk/function to make great sandals and shoes! I reviewed the “Shorty” Sidewalk Surfers and they not only have both funk and function, they also have a whole lot more…

Ok do you see my crazy face in these pictures? Literally, I am BEYOND excited about my new Shorty Sanuk Sidewalk Surfers. They are uber-cute, adorable, and completely rock my world!! The style is youthful and vibrant. They are totally the relaxed surfer/beach/California-lifestyle look. LUV ‘EM!

In a less superficial description, they are also practical, sturdy and well made! The sole is very cushion-y and has nice tread, the fabric is thin to medium-thickness and is textured. The inside is soft and smooth, more comfortable than I can describe. Sanuk-Brown-Surfer-Shoes

When I first wore Sanuk shoes I figured they would be for around the house or vacation only (they looked cool but definitely weren’t running shoes). But I can happily admit I was wrong! I have worn my shoes everywhere! And my “Shorty” shoes are just as durable! I have shopped, traveled, taken my dog for walks and more in these shoes! I received these in red but they also come in light blue and brown (all 3 colors are sharp!) Oh and I won’t forget to mention they are partially handmade, vegan and vegetarian too! YAY!

Sanuk has a motto “They’re not shoes, they’re sandals”, and just imagine the most comfortable sandals you’ve ever worn (or for that matter never worn!) I would go as far to say they are slipper-comfortable!

Another one of their famous company mottos: “Smile! Pass it on.”

And thanks to Sanuk, I will!

Get Your Own!! These are a MUST shoe! I recommend Sanuk Shoes for anyone who loves to be relaxed and comfortable in their footwear – but doesn’t forget about fashion either!!

Find the shorty shoe for $52 online as well as many other shoes (prices vary) online at Sanuk!
