How are your holidays going so far? Life getting hectic yet?
I’ve been going crazy around the house putting up decorations and cooking up a storm. I love every minute of it! Hosting guests and having parties for the holidays brings me so much joy!
As I am decorating and cleaning, I can’t forget the guest bathroom!
Here are my tips for decorating the bathroom for the holidays.
When preparing for guests, there are a few things to keep in mind.
1. Scrub, Clean, Wash
First, you want to make sure your bathroom is clean! Obvious, right? Scrub down those shower tiles, wipe off the soap scum in the sink and make sure the mirror sparkles. Go the extra mile and clean out the back of the drawers, you’d be surprised what you might find in them! Ick, I know.
Cleaning a bathroom is tedious work, but there is nothing more unwelcoming than staying with someone that gave little or no effort in tidying up before you got there!
2. Set the Tone
Along with decorating the inside and outside of my home, I also like to decorate the bathroom! Put a mini Christmas tree out, some holiday soaps, or tinsel.
For an added holiday touch, I like to hide a wireless speaker in the cabinet and have holiday music playing during the day. (It is a fun ambiance, plus blocks out any embarrassing bathroom noises!) Am I right?
3. Add Some Light
Having a night light for guests since they are unfamiliar with the space is a nice touch. I definitely don’t want them hurting themselves in the middle of the night!
4. Hand and Bath Towels
Clean and plush towels are a necessity. Need I say more?
5. Take Out the Trash
Don’t embarrass yourself by leaving your nasty trash out when guests arrive. This goes along with cleaning the bathroom, but I am putting extra emphasis on this piece. It can be easy to forget!
But c’mon. Just empty it out. It makes the bathroom look clean and tidy in seconds. Plus, gross – nobody wants to see used q-tips and tissues that aren’t theirs.
6. Hotel Concierge Basket
One of my favorite things is providing my guests with a bathroom goodies kit. I put everything they might need in there: toothbrush, toothpaste, mints, tampons, face wash, razor, and more.
It is my special touch that makes my home feel more like a hotel! They don’t have to go out and buy something that they forgot, or worse get embarrassed that they forgot something. It is all there for them so they don’t have to worry!
7. Top Off That TP
Lastly, always have high quality, soft and squishy toilet paper on the roll. An empty TP roll is the most depressing sight to see.
Beyond the toilet paper on the roll, also have extra TP in the bathroom. Don’t ask me why, but is is awfully uncomfortable when a guest asks for toilet paper because the roll ran out.
Oh, and when it comes to the strongest and softest? Go with Charmin.
8. Avoid the Clog
Not only is Charmin the softest, it also has the Roto-Rooter’s stamp of approval to be clog-free and septic-safe, and use the most with Roto-Rooter plumbers.
Because what is more embarrassing than running out of toilet paper? Having your guest tell you they clogged up the toilet and it’s overflowing. Ewww.
Yeah, let’s avoid all that embarrassment, shall we?
Make them feel welcome and at home with Charmin!
