I hope everyone had a nice week! Mine was filled with doctor appointments… but I am hoping to get some answers to my health issues soon! This weekend will be a nice break from medical offices and medical tests! What are your plans this weekend? Anything fun?
My agenda includes: Costco run, hubby’s work event, meeting up with some bloggers, and skiing the last few days that the resorts are open! I am looking forward to spending time with my husband and some of my blogger friends! As always, I have gathered up my favorite picks for the week:
Goodbye, Hurt & Pain Book
The author Dr. Deborah Sandella, PhD, RN does a wonderful job relating real life feelings and emotions to science and research. The book is very relate-able and yet is filled with cutting edge neurosciences research. Emotions are an interesting topic that are of interest to me. We all deal with our own troubles and it is so important to deal with them before they become hindrances in our lives. Unresolved conflict and internal turmoil can cause health issues, weight gain, relationship failures and more. This book clearly shows how to deal with your emotions in a productive way – by first understanding how our brain works! Once we know how we function, we can begin to understand how our emotions work too. If you like knowing how things work, science and psychology… you’ll want to add this book to your list!
Next Door American Eatery
This past month, the Denver Bloggers Club was held at Next Door Eatery in Glendale. This is one of my favorite restaurants. I have dined at the Boulder and the Union Station locations, but this was a first in Glendale! I am happy to hear that they are opening a Next Door in Stapleton too! That will be a great location!
The coolest part about our dining experience is that we got to try the new menu items before they came out to the public! The folks at Next Door were accommodating to food allergies and filled our bellies will all kind of delicious appetizers, bowls, entrees and dessert too! Some of the menu items we tasted were: Pickles & Pepperocinis (worth it!), Kale Chips (huge portion), Garlic and Parmesan Smashers (can’t go wrong here), Guacamole and Chips (chips sooo good), Next Door Roasted Veggies (my absolute favorite), Ancho Chile Chicken (amazing presentation), and more.
They have daily specials, happy hours and kids menus. If you are in Colorado (or in Tennessee.. they’re coming for ya!) and have yet to try this place out – you need to go A.S.A.P!
I have been
wanting needing a tripod for my phone for awhile. Now that phones are so advanced, I end up doing a lot of photography and video on my phone. Sometimes I have to prop my phone up on books, decor and clothing to get it in the right spot for shooting. NO MORE! The phone camera tripod to the rescue! Things I love about this: lightweight, stable, adjustable and fits all shape and sized phones. This simple product is upping my video photography game!
Homesick Candles are a really interesting spin on candles. They have a selection a unique candles (each with it’s own scent representative of each of the US state). For instance, the Denver candle smells like open skies and mountain pine trees, with notes of fresh hemp, patchouli, cedar, oak moss, amber, musk and sweet tonka bean. Whereas, the Hawaii candle you will find tropical notes of pineapple and coconut.
These candles make great gifts for college students that are away from home, friends of family who are moving out of state or anyone who has state pride. They are made in the USA and hand poured! Find more about Homesick Candles on their website.
This therapy device is great to help with pain. It is fairly simple, but does a lot! It has two options TENS and EMS. TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) sends low -voltage electrical pulses through skin to nerve fibers to block the body’s nerve pathways and stimulate endorphin’s. EMS (Electric Muscle Stimulation) sends low-voltage electrical pulses through skin to stimulate healthy muscles in order to improve or facilitate muscle performance, increase range of motion, and increase blood circulation. I have been playing around with it on my lower back and my shoulders that get really tense. So far I find it relaxing and helpful for a product that I can do on my own!
Another option from Santamedical is the PM-510 Tens Unit Electronic Pulse Massager with Rechargeable Battery. It is a little cheaper and does TENS only, but a good buy if you are looking for something simpler. It is portable and compact!
Health Warrior Pumpkin Seed
Health Warrior bars are my favorite snack bars. I always have a few flavors on hand in case I need a mid-day snack. You really can’t go wrong with the chia bars. Just the other day, I tried the Health Warrior Pumpkin Seed Superfood Bar for the first time (Dark Chocolate). It was slightly melted from sitting in my car while in an appointment. When I got back to my car, I was hungry, grabbed it and couldn’t believe my taste buds! This bar is so good. I highly recommend slightly melting it too… the pumpkin seeds and the warm dark chocolate combination is UNREAL!
Gardening brings me a lot of joy. It is a peaceful and rewarding activity. I have been gardening for a few years, but only recently have I started from seed. I used to buy the plants, but now I like to start them at home in the late winter. In order to do this you need to set up grow lights. I have the 24W LED Grow Lights to help my grow my plants from seedlings to vegetable and herb plants! It works when the weather doesn’t work with me! Right now there is a coupon code for these lights – save 22% on Amazon!
There is nothing like fresh, new sheets! The Comfort Zone makes premium sheets very affordable! The sets on Amazon come with 4 pieces – top sheet, bottom sheet, and 2 pillow cases. They range in size from twin – california king. The hotel luxury sheets are available in a number of colors and have great ratings on Amazon. I have the queen grey charcoal set on our guest bedroom and they are beautiful! The sheets fit really well, are high quality and super comfortable. I am really quite shocked how much I love these sheets for the price that they are. I HIGHLY recommend!
