Disclosure: I was sent Mustard Girl Mustard for this post.
Lately, I have grown to love mustard. It is turning out to be my go-to, favorite condiment! Over the last few months, I have realized how healthy mustard is compared to other condiments (ketchup, sweet and sour, mayonnaise). My long affair with the sugar-filled ketchup has been coming to a close, and I am okay with that – thanks to mustard!
There are so many health benefits to mustard, like did you know it is an anti-inflammatory? It has proven properties to slow the progress of cancer! Consuming mustard seeds regularly can also manage symptoms of asthma due to it’s high value of magnesium and selenium. Some other benefits include helping you to lose weight, slow the ageing process, relieve muscle pain, relieve arthritic pain, lowering cholesterol, reduce constipation, improve your overall immunity and more!
Mustard seed has an impressive line-up of health benefits, don’t you think?
That is why I am finding new ways to include mustard into my diet. It is not just a dip for corn dogs or a condiment on hamburgers! I have been adding it to pasta salads, baked dishes and the latest, this appetizer dish I made for a friend gathering – deviled eggs with mustard!
Plus, my doctor told me eggs are the world’s most perfect food. 🙂
For those of you who don’t already, adding mustard to deviled eggs is phenomenal! It keeps the creamy texture, and adds some zest! Here is my recipe for making deviled eggs using mustard!
How to Make Deviled Eggs With Mustard:
Ingredients:
- 6 Hard Boiled Eggs
- 3 Tablespoons Mayonnaise
- 1 Tablespoon Mustard Girl Mustard
- Paprika and 3 Chive Sprigs (For Garnishing)
Equipment:
- Medium Mixing Bowl
- Mixing Spoon
- Sharp Knife
- Plastic Bag (for piping bag)
Preparation:
- Boil Eggs. Prepare hard boiled eggs ahead of time. You will want them to be completely cool before starting your deviled eggs.
- Peel Eggs. Gently tap them against the counter in a few spots and peel the egg carefully. (Tip: If you crack the eggs and submerge them in an ice bath for 60 seconds, they can be easier to peel.)
- Cut Eggs in Half. Using a sharp knife, cut the eggs lengthwise.
- Remove Yolk. Gently remove the yellow center yolk from the egg white. Place the egg yolks in a mixing bowl.
- Add Ingredients. Add the mayonnaise and mustard with yolks in the mixing bowl.
- Mix the Ingredients. Mix and mush the ingredients together with a mixing spoon or fork. Mix until a smooth consistency. Some small chunks are okay.
- Distribute the Mixture. Plop the mixture evenly onto the egg halves. You can do this simply with a spoon or spatula or make it more fancy by using a plastic bag and cut the corner to pipe the mixture into the egg halves.
- Sprinkle with Garnish. Once the eggs are filled with small mounds of the mixture, add the garnishes. Sprinkle with paprika and distribute chives evenly.
Deviled eggs are an easy appetizer to make for picnics and parties. They take no time at all – but they sure look like they did! These appetizer bites are always a hit and gobbled up quick!
