Crazy Stalls! The weirdest bathrooms you’ve ever seen! - With Our Best

I don’t normally participate in potty language, but right now I am making an exception. I thought these (restrooms, bathrooms, ladies/gentlemen rooms, men/womens rooms, loos, cans, toilets or whatever you call them) were worth sharing! These are not your typical toilets!

1. 3-D Goldstore, Hong Kong Restroom, CHINA

The gold store owner in Hong Kong was inspired by Lenin’s vision of building public restrooms made of gold. Everything in the restroom including the toilet, sink, tiles and doors are all made of solid gold. This bathroom is worth $$$ in this economy! Talk about doing your business in style!

2. World’s Largest Restroom, CHINA

In July 2007, a Southwestern Chinese city in Chongqing opened up a free of charge, four-story public restroom. Four story bathroom – that is insane! There are more than 1,000 toilets in this 30,000 square foot restroom. It features an Egyptian-themed interior with soothing music playing in the background. Many of the urinals have unique shapes (see pic). The government officials in Chongqing are currently preparing to submit an application to list this facility as the world’s largest public restroom in the Guinness World Records. With over 1,000 toilets – I really hope there is never a line for the ladies room!!

3. Pop Up Restroom, various locations EUROPE

This is actually a “pop-up” facility for use mainly during the nighttime. The durable, cylindrical stainless steel urinal, also known as the “Urilift” is lowered into the ground during the day and when it is not needed. Healthmatic, a Wiltshire, UK based company has been given rights to distribute the Urilift in the UK. The Urilift can be used by 3 persons simultaneously. You’re telling me 3 people can be in the can (ok…canister) at the same time?

4. The John Michael Kohler Arts Center Restroom, USA

The Kohler art centre houses arts exhibits in Sheboygan, WI, USA. The Kohler fund sponsored six artists to design artwork using the facilities and sources from Kohler- a company that sells bathrooms and accessories. One of the restroom units entitled “The Social History of Architecture” features the development of architecture from ancient Egypt until the current time. One restroom unit features “The Many Uses of Water” using beautiful ceramics in blue colors. Oh-la-la-loo!

5. The Singapore Zoo Restroom, SINGAPORE

This spacious and open-to-the-air restroom has won many awards locally and internationally for its cleanliness and practical design. The main section of the restrooms are located outdoors, in a beautiful garden. If you gotta go, you gotta go, even if there are animals peering around the corner… peeping tom the tortoise?

6. Jungle Jims Restroom, USA

This Jungle Jim’s restroom is located in the Jungle Jim’s International Market (a large shopping store) in Ohio, USA. The entrance of the restroom is misleading and unique, as it looks like multiple “porta-potties” and may confuses many. But the “porta-potties” actually lead into a large restroom with individual stalls! The walls inside are decorated and the restroom units are spacious and clean. For those people that avoid “porta-potties” at all costs, believe me-I am with you, but don’t miss out on this one!

7. Outer-space restroom, UNIVERSE SOMEWHERE

Talk about needing some “space” while you use the facilities! Without any gravity in space a trip to the bathroom can be a difficult task! According to How Stuff Works, the bathrooms on space stations are built with leg, foot, and lap restraints that hold astronauts in place. One major difference between space and Earth toilets is the use of air as opposed to water. The air is used to draw waste away, where it is then compacted for disposal upon return to Earth. Neat! Let’s just hope it all works the way it is supposed to…

8. My favorite: The One-way mirrored restroom, UK

This bathroom is made up of 4 one-way walls. The people on the outside only see a mirrored image, but on the inside you can see passer-byers! Talk about stage fright! This restroom not only tests the bravery of the people on the inside, but also the curiosity of the people on the outside. Many people press their noses against the glass to make sure you really can’t see inside! Intimidating for the poor fellow in the loo! I thought you were supposed to relieve yourself in the bathroom, this seems like no relief to me!!
