Last week I had the pleasure of socializing with some local bloggers at the Cholaca headquarters. Cholaca was an unfamiliar brand to me prior to the event. But since the event, I have already stocked up on Cholaca from Sprouts Farmers Market. I can’t get enough Cholaca!
It was a very snowy and cold evening in Colorado when we all gathered at Cholaca. Luckily, we were greeted with some piping hot Cholaca to begin the evening. Not knowing what it was, I was coming in from the cold and gladly sipped a taster. It hit the spot… mmm.
What is Cholaca?
Cholaca is pure liquid cacao that is organic, fair trade certified, vegan, gluten free and paleo. It is a superfood that is rich in flavonoids, iron and magnesium. It has the highest level of antioxidants of any food! Cholaca can be enjoyed in a shot on its own or can be used with milk, coffee, chai, smoothies or in recipes!
Why is Cholaca cacao different?
Cholaca cacao is no ordinary cacao. Ira, the owner described his cacao as a different level of pureness. He shared that not all cacao is equal. The cacao in Cholaca is exceptional in the way it is grown and harvested. Cholaca cacao beans are sources from specific farmers in Peru and Ecuador that utilize regenerative farming practices. Basically, Cholaca cacao is sourced with the utmost care and therefore it is pure, rich and packed with nutrients.
The history and practices of the Cholaca brand were impressive. I was excited about the superfood benefits and the natural stimulant (theobromine) that gives you an endorphin boost without the jitters (something I often get from coffee)! After tasting it for the first time, I knew this stuff was the real deal. It’s soooooo good!
It is rich. It is decadent. It is purely delicious.
Once we learned about the cacao, we made stuff with it! T various stations, we created a Cholaca Face Scrub, sipped at the Cholaca hot cocoa station and decorated chewy Cholaca ginger bread cookies.
Recipe: Hot Cholaca:
- 2 oz. Cholaca, 4 oz. milk (any type).
Steam Cholaca and milk to ~140. Sweeten to taste. Add a dash of cayenne pepper.
Last night I made a batch of Hot Cholaca for my neighbors. I added to the basic recipe by combining Cholaca, coconut milk, coconut oil and coconut sugar. It was creamy and delicious. My neighbors said they will be requesting Cholaca whenever they come over now! I told them to look for it in Sprouts in the refrigerated section by the heavy cream. 😉
Then today, being the new Cholaca addict that I am, I made Horchata Cholaca. It was a chocolatey, cinnamon and sweet delight! It might be my new favorite drink!
Recipe: Horchata Cholaca:
- 2 oz. Cholaca, 6 oz. rice milk, agave nectar
Combine Cholaca and rice milk. Sweeten with agave nectar. Serve over ice with a dash of cinnamon and vanilla. Top with a cinnamon stick for presentation!
Why I love Cholaca:
- Health benefits – 40x more antioxidants than blueberries!
- Natural stimulant – doesn’t make me shaky or jittery, but gives me energy!
- Regeneration properties – prevents pre-mature aging, cellular healing, improves blood flow!
- Gluten free, dairy free, and paleo!
As a result, Cholaca has won me over in just a few days!
If you are looking for a new drink for the holidays – and for all the rest of the day too – Cholaca is it! Find Cholaca products in Sprouts Farmers Market! Happy Holidays!
