Disclosure: I was sent a DanceCrazy Stretch Strap.
Being flexible is something I strive for. It is more than just being able to do a tight back bend or the splits (which I can’t do either… yet!). Stretching is not just important for gymnasts and yogis. Stretching is important for everyone. There are so many benefits to stretching daily.
If you want to step up your fitness game or just feel better in general, stretching is your solution. Plus, it is so easy! You’ll see a huge improvement when you start stretching daily.
Benefits to Stretching Daily
- Improves flexibility and increases range of motion. Stretching moves the muscles and joints making them flexible and helping them move to increase your range of motion.
- Can reduce risk of injury. When your muscles are flexible, they are less like to have a serious injury. If an injury is occurring, but your muscles are flexible, your body will adjust to reduce injury from the strange movement, which may normally cause injury.
- Improves posture. When you focus on stretching your core muscles (lower back, upper back, shoulders and chest) your spine will follow. This means you’ll have better back alignment and improve your posture. BONUS: Your balance will improve also!
- Manages stress. Many people carry their stress in their shoulders or lower back. When you stretch out these muscles, you are less likely to have tension in these areas, and your body naturally relaxes in a stretch. When you stretch your stress areas, your body will let go of the tension.
- Calm the mind. Stretching has a calming effect. It is a great way to take a break and relax from a hectic life schedule.
- Promote circulation. Stretching increases blood to the body’s muscles and joints. This allow for greater nutrient absorption and improves the body’s overall circulation of blood.
- Improve Your Workout. Stretching your muscles before, during and after a workout will allow you to workout that much better. Your muscles work better when they are warm and not tense. Stretching loosens muscles and can improve your fitness routine.
- Lessen the risk of low-back pain. When you are flexible in the lower body areas (lower back, hamstrings, hips and pelvis muscles) you have less stress on the lower back and spine. More range of motion in these areas will reduces the risk of low-back pain.
Why I stretch:
I choose to stretch to reduce stress and relax. I carry a lot of weight in my shoulders and chest from being on the computer A LOT. I stretch for release in my neck, shoulder and sometimes my back. Stretching daily calms me and reduces tension. It is great for my body and my mind. When I stretch regularly, I feel better and get less headaches.
Do you think stretching is as important as exercise?
Why do you want to stretch more?
When it comes to stretching, there is only so much stretch I can do on my own. I love to add to my stretching routine by using a stretching strap. Stretching straps make me more flexible and I can get more relief. I love this Dancecrazy Ultra Stretch Stretching Band on Amazon.
