McDonalds is a unhealthy cop-out for food when traveling. Fast food might be comfortable when you don’t know the area. But let me stop you right there! You might be missing out on the best fresh meal of your life!
There are lots of online resources to help find the best local produce no matter where you are! I want to share a few websites that help you eat great local food… and show you it doesn’t have to be difficult!
How to eat local while traveling – My Travel Tips from a Flight Attendant:
1. Visit EatWellGuide.org – Type in the zip code or the city and state of where you are traveling to. Find the listing of local-food markets, stores, restaurants, co-ops, farmers, etc! Let the Eat Well Guide help you find local, sustainable, and organic food wherever you go and during your trip (type in starting and ending location!).
2. Visit Localharvest.org – Similar to Eat Well Guide, you search by city and state to find food, but this site’s focus is more on farms and farmers markets!
3. Visit Yelp.com – Find out the insider tips to many cities! Get local reviews on restaurants, pubs, and more. Find your next mom and pop shop – by letting the yelpers be your guide!
