On a typical day, my hair is wavy-frizzy. It has calmed down some since High School, but I still run the hair straightener over it a few times a week. Over the years, I have probably used a total of 7 hair straighteners. Some have served me well, and others were just wasted money…
So how does the Gurin Hair Straightener compare?
The Gurin Professional Hair Styler Iron is a flat iron that can be found on Amazon. It is a simple salon flat iron, with two basic functions: on/off switch and an adjustable temperature (140-450F). It has a 1.25” ceramic plate that has tourmaline. Tourmaline ceramic plates increase the smooth, silky, shiny look of the heated hair.
This hair tool can not only straighten hair, but it can also style it by flipping it out or curling it in waves or curls. Making curls similar to a curling iron is possible, but does require some skill and patience with the flat iron!
Here is me, mid-process. The left section of my hair is during straightening, the right side of my hair still needs to be straightened. That’s pretty impressive, right?
I found the Gurin flat iron easy to use, with it’s very basic settings. I love how lightweight this flat iron is, making this my current flat iron of choice for traveling. The Gurin comes with a silky red storage bag, which is great for traveling and storage.
I noticed the lower settings didn’t do much for my hair, whereas the 300F+ did start to make a difference. This flat iron gets very hot and I had to be extra careful because the outside tongs portion got hot as well. This made it hard to hold on to do twists or curls. The heat stayed in the plate tongs section, the handle never got hot.
The plates smoothly glided against my wavy hair, to make it straight. Getting the look that I wanted was a fairly quick process. When my hair was finished it felt smooth and silky.
Overall, this is a pretty decent hair tool. For around $20, you can’t beat it.
