As a kid, my first sport was ballet, until I begged my parents to take me out of it. I hated stinkin’ ballet. The synchronization, the tutu, but mostly the feminine girly aspect of it. You see, I am the only girl in my family, I have two brothers. I was more interested in neighborhood hockey, baseball and anything with a racquet.
It wasn’t until later in life, that I decided to go from tomboy to who I am today. Although I still have that competitive nature, I have gotten more in touch with my feminine side.
So I thought I would give ballet a chance… again.
Not like officially. You won’t see me in some studio on my tippy toes trying to do a brisé (a ballet movement foot/leg mid-air jump thing). But, at home… you just might find me in mimicking ballet techniques from my Ballet Body™ Workout with Leah Sarago.
You might be thinking, how did she change her mind about ballet so drastically? My former-ballerina friend actually. She turned me back on to the benefits of ballet. She convinced me how great the workouts are for sculpting, strengthening and elongating.
And they are.
I’ve been moving to the three muscle-focused DVDS: Define & Flatten Abs, Define, Tighten & Sculpt Upper Body and Sculpt, Lift & Lengthen Lower Body for the past week and have realized just how hard of a workout ballet can be. No more sissy tutus!
These ballet-inspired workout videos are becoming more and more popular. People are really catching on, losing inches, dropping pounds and having fun. Lea Sarago, who is a certified strength and conditioning specialist and the instructor in these videos, keeps the workouts upbeat and entertaining. She is a great trainer and makes it clear how to do the Ballet Body™ Techniques.
