As I get older, I notice I feel more exhausted and become tired easily – especially when I am inactive. Sometimes I am tired all day and then can’t sleep all night! What is up with that? These restless nights are typically when I spend the day very sedentary (on the computer and around the house). When I sit still all day, it really effects my sleep and my mood. I am more achy, tired, anxious and easily irritated.
Of course I don’t like feeling this way, but as a blogger – it is my job to be on the computer all day!
Sound familiar?
I needed to make a change. So you know what I did? Last month I wrote down some personal goals. Nope, it is not even January 1st – these aren’t my New Years Resolutions. These are my mid-October feel better goals! Because I was done with feeling like ICK!
So what are some of my healthy living goals?
- To get out of the house everyday for at least 30 minutes – even just to walk the dog!
- To eat salad for dinner (at least) once a week.
- To play tennis with my husband (at least) 3 times a month.
- To take supplements and vitamins that make me feel better.
These are just 4 small goals that I made a few weeks ago! So far I am on track!
Goal #1 MOVE: Getting out of the house and moving are key to my happiness! I realize that when I get up from my computer to take a quick walk around the block, my mood changes quickly! I grab my dog and a leash and we walk… sometimes just for 10 minutes – but it makes us both satisfied!
Goal #2 MORE SALAD: Eating a fresh salad as a dinner entree means I am not going to eat greasy fried food or lots of carbs for dinner. It is a salad – greens and more! I love changing the salad up too. I’ve done taco salad and pomegranate with strawberries! There are a lot of salad options!
Goal #3 PLAY: Having fun with my husband and playing tennis is not only good for my attitute but it is great for my marriage too! It allows us to do something together that is active and that we both enjoy.
Goal #4: VITAMINS: By taking daily vitamins and supplements I am ensuring that my body is getting the support it needs, that I don’t always get from food. It is super hard to get all your nutrients from food! Some of the supplements I rely on are Vitamin D3, probiotics and fish oil.
