If you’ve been following my life posts, you know I love thrift shopping. I especially love the crazy and dirty adventures of the Goodwill Outlet stores.
If you haven’t been to one, it’s like no other thrift store you’ve ever been in– it is just rows and rows of bins full of junk. Piles of unorganized and random crap. And I love it.
Well today at the Goodwill Outlet World in Denver, it was a crazy sight to see. FIVE entire bins of mostly bare naked black baby dolls.
Seriously! Both big and small, all these dolls were nearly naked with colored skin. The only dolls that had their clothing on were the ones whose clothing was physically sewn on. Anything removable, was removed! No joke.
Some of them still had their barrettes and hair scrunchies though.
I didn’t know what to think. This was a first. Out of all the times I have shopped here, I’d never seen this many dolls at once, and surely not this many naked dolls. Ever.
It’s like someone had been collecting these dolls for years and years and finally said, “What the heck, donate the dolls, but I am keeping the clothes!”
It was actually a pretty impressive sight to see. Someone (or some people) had been collecting these for years! Why wouldn’t they sell these? Couldn’t they make a donation to somewhere more worthy than the Goodwill Outlet?
I mean, if they’d left the clothes on of course.
I was in awe of the hundreds of dolls. Not only is it bizarre to see literally hundreds of dolls staring at you, but hundreds of dolls that had little to none clothes on?
It was just plain creepy.
Dolls need clothes. They become super creepy when they don’t have clothes.
I couldn’t stop staring at these bins FULL of black baby dolls. They were all so unique and different. It was obvious that this was once quite a powerful collection. It made me wonder how they were displayed in whatever home they came from. It also made me wonder about why they were here in the first place.
You see, that is the greatest part about thrift shopping. That is why I love it. There is always some untold story. Just like this one.
