I was invited by Walmart Grocery To Go (home delivery service) to collaborate on an #PartyToGo. They provided me with some food and other items from their delivery service, in exchange for me sharing about the #WalmartGrocery event! I decided to host a soup (and salad) sampling party! It was a blast!
Getting friends together during the fall season – before the hectic holidays when we’re all spread out of state with family is the best time. I’ve always enjoyed “Friendsgiving” but wanted to do something a little different this year. So I decided to host a Soup Party.
I imagined it would be a simple and delicious event. Everyone could enjoy soup and salad and each other’s company. I couldn’t wait. I even had my soup plan in mind.
First, I made a Facebook group and invited some of our friends to join us.
The invite was pretty simple:
“Let’s get together! This Sunday afternoon for soup sharing/sampling. Everyone bring your favorite soup to share– either in a crock pot, normal pot or to-go dish (we also have extra crock pots). We will make a soup to add – and #WalmartGrocery will provided all the extras – like salad, breads, crackers and drinks too! Hope you can make it!” – Dan & Karissa
Our friends each showed up on that cold Sunday afternoon with soups in hand. It was a perfect soup day too – the weather was windy, chilly with a dusting of snow on the ground!
I was excited that everyone had gone all out on their soup-making ability. Each soup was totally different, and they all were so delicious. We had a total of 5 soups in the line up!
The soup selection included:
(1) Spicy Kale, Potato and Sausage
(2) Butternut Squash with Bacon
(3) Hearty Potato Soup
(4) Thai Chicken Soup
(5) Vegetable Minestrone
Our kitchen was a sight to see. We had crockpots galore! I am not sure if my kitchen had ever smelled that fantastic! I loved how different everyone’s crock pot was too! Such fun!
Some of the items I ordered from Walmart Grocery:
(1) A variety of crackers, bread, and rolls
(2) Soup bases – broth, bouillon and stock
(3) All the ingredients and fixings for homemade soup
To go along with the wonderful soups we had a selection of crackers and breads. I mean they go hand in hand, don’t you think? What is soup without them?
We all enjoyed the food and talked late into the afternoon. We entertained the kiddos and the kiddos even tasted some soup too (after a lot of cooling)! Daisy dog picked up all of the crumbs too.
We all kept commenting on how everyone’s soup turned out so good! It was impossible to choose a favorite. So nobody did we just kept tasting!
After trying all the soups on the first go-round, a few of us went back for more.
Although the soups were the main attraction, we also had a couple salads to even out the hearty warm soups. The salads provided the fresh and green factor to this Sunday feast.
They were eaten by those that didn’t fill up on the soup first…
Hosting our friends is one of our favorite things to do. We love getting together with them. It is always a blast. It is remarkable how much we’ve been through together. From college, bad dates and good, weddings, and now babies. Our friends are the best!
We all agreed we would have to make this Soup Sampling Party an annual tradition. It was a simple event, each of us sharing in the work – making one soup to share with the group. Then having the rest of the food delivered from Walmart To Go was as simple as can be.
What a hassle-free way to get together! I look forward to next year’s soup selections!
