I don’t have a PhD or a love relationship degree 🙂 and I have only been married for 2 years, so I am no expert. (Just wanted to make all that clear before I went on blabbing…) But my husband and I decided to read books about love and marriage to communicate better and strengthen our marriage bond. Whether we are 100% in love at the moment or let’s just say “annoyed” with each other, we feel we can always learn from reading others’ experiences.
The latest book we read was Project: Happily Ever After.
About the Author: Alisa Bowman has been writing for years as a ghost writer, and this is her first solo authored book. She has a blog that was voted best marriage blog of 2009 and has been featured in USA Today, Redbook and First magazines, among others. She hopes that Project: Happily Ever After will help people feel normal and feel less alone. And ultimately hopes that it will help save marriages.
About the Book & My Review: In this truthful and sometimes brutal memoir, you will read about a woman during her lowest point in life. She went from wishing her husband dead – to renewing her wedding vows (drastic I know, but a true story). She is proactive about her marriage, only after she meets with her friend who asked her if she has “tried everything” before giving up. Thus begins the “Marriage Project”. During this time she works to make the investment to salvage her marriage by reading 12 self-help books! Project: Happily Ever After is an entertaining read because the author is humorous, but more importantly because she is so fearlessly honest and vulnerable.
I recommend this book for both couples that are feeling hopeless or couples in a great relationship – who want to keep it that way. This real life story is motivating and a good self-help read.**Visit her blog where she is offering some great giveaways of her own on her blog that end on January 31st.
