Shopping for air travel can be confusing… why is one ticket $100 more than another and it has 2 more stops?! Let’s face it, your time and money are important. So let’s not waste either.
✈ Tips for Purchasing Cheap Airline Tickets ✈
1. Purchase date. Studies have found the Wednesdays are the best time to purchase airfare. It is also one of the cheapest days to travel.
2. Purchase Time. The best time to book a flight is 3 p.m. Tuesday – 12:01p.m. Wednesday morning (in the time zone the airline is based)
3. Travel Dates. Saturday is the cheapest day to travel. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are in the running as well. Oh, and Fridays and Sundays the the most expensive. So, got that? Travel on Saturdays, Wednesdays and Tuesdays for less hassle and cheaper fares.
3. Flight Time. The cheapest time to fly is typically the earliest flight out in the morning.
4. Where you purchase. Consider budget holiday deals websites. Also, often there are better deals over the phone than online. Social media sites (twitter & facebook) are publishing sales directly to customers at all hours, so check those too!
5. When you purchase. It turns out airlines don’t begin releasing cheaper seats until 3-4 months before departure. But don’t purchase last minute either! The cheapest tickets still usually require at least 14-day advance purchase. To get tickets before the cheapest seats sell out, buy a month or two in advance.
As you can see, when searching for bargain holiday deals there are a few things you should keep in mind. Most important, be flexible. Don’t be set on traveling during high times (ie: spring break). Take a trip a few days later and you will be shocked at how much cheaper the tickets are! Fly on the least busy days and during the early hours or the late all-nighters. And don’t give up! If you work at it, even a little, you’ll find yourself a deal!
