You might already know that I l.o.v.e. Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes… I love everything about them (except maybe how long their name is – I have a feeling my fingers will be tired by the end of this post!). I love their salads, soups, fresh pasta and bread! You can read about my other experiences with them here and here.
I have eaten in the restaurant many times, including lunch and dinner. I have also had their catering delivered to my home for our annual Halloween party. But I had yet to try their take-away service! In fact, I didn’t even know Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes Take-Home existed until I went to their website and it hit me right in the nose!
Yes, front and center on the main website you will see “Click to Order your Holiday Side Dish Today. Pick Up and Pay in Store”. How did I miss that? I don’t know…
So now was my chance to try out their take-away service! First of all, it is easy to get started. Simply select the restaurant at which you’d like to pick up your pre-ordered items.
STEP 1: Select the state/region of pick up location in the selection box on the map display.
STEP 2: Choose your restaurant location for pick up from the list.
Then you choose what you would like to take-away! They have a variety of specialty salads, side dishes, desserts and main dishes just for the holidays!
I decided on the Smoked Turkey & Spinach with Toasted Almond Tossed Salad, a featured salad for December only. Although I have to admit, it was hard to go with a salad when there were so many delicious cobblers on the menu:
Cobblers and Cakes:
Orchard Apple Cobbler
Tart Cherry Cobbler
Cranberry Apple Cobbler
Mixed Berry & Apple Cobbler
Georgia Peach Cobbler
Autumn Pumpkin & Walnut Cobbler – November Only
Caramel Apple Cobbler
Once you choose the item(s) you want to pick up the rest is cake! (okay, my mind is still on dessert…did I mention they have cookie buckets?!?) Right, ahem, so you add the items to your “cart” and then fill out your name and contact information. They give you a price and a pick up time your food will be ready! And you don’t pay until you get there!
To me, this process is VERY easy!
When I showed up for my order, the manager had it ready to go right on time! (I included her in the picture above!) She was so sweet, and willing to deal with my odd request for a photo!
But truthfully, I didn’t have to wait more than the time it took her to get the salad and dressing out of the refrigerator! It was a quick, painless pick up process! The process of ordering from Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes was incredibly simple. There is a decent amount of items to choose from on the website, and even more with the Holiday Take-Home items available. Which reminds me, that is one of my favorite things about Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes, is that they are constantly changing their menu!
Some of the other items I noticed you could get for the month of December: Golden Yam Bisque Soup, Turkey Chutney, Green Bean Casserole w/ Crispy Onions (made with house-made Cream of Mushroom Soup) and Whole Wheat Biscuits and of course the item I ordered, the Smoked Turkey & Spinach with Toasted Almond Tossed Salad. Yum.
We really enjoyed this salad. Ingredients: Turkey, Spinach, Apples, Almonds, Cranberries and a delicious secret dressing! The dressing tasted honey-mustard like, but sweeter.
Oh, one thing I will mention, next time I will ask for a bag because the containers are a little slippery and the dressing fell (minimum spillage) when I tried to carry too much in one hand!
I think that any of these take-home items would be a great addition to a family holiday meal. Why not make it easy on yourself and pick up half of the items from Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes and make the rest! I think people would be pleased!
Here’s the fun part…. a GIVEAWAY!! We are going to giveaway a free voucher for a Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes Cobbler. This voucher is timely though – it will expire on December 31, 2011. (Because the cobblers are seasonal items!) To find out if you have a restaurant near you, check out the store locator. Enter below…Good luck!
