Sometimes it is a struggle when you have many health problems but you are anti-medication. It is hard to find solutions to problems without doctors just pushing quick-fix pills. It truly is a challenge to fight for your health in a natural way. I want to solve my health problems, but I don’t want a quick fix that doesn’t ever get to the root of the problem.
So when I heard about the book Off Balance, I was interested in the perspective of western and natural medicine from a pharmacist’s point of view.
Title: Off Balance, The American Way of Health. A Pharmacist’s Perspective on Why Drugs Don’t Work
Author: Dr. Leyla Ali, Pharm.D.
ISBN: 978-0985345204
My Review: The book Off Balance was a surprisingly easy-to-read book (because you know how all the medical mumbo-jumbo can be). I found the charts, guides, medical professional interviews and illustrations helpful and they broke up the medical writing well. It wasn’t just page after page of medical terminology. The personal stories were interesting, and maybe the most engaging part of the book.
This book spoke about ways to solve health issues in a more natural way, rather than just a pill. It even had ways to cure cancer in the cancer chapter with suggestions like: cleanse, raw food, good nutrition, hypnosis, etc.
I found this book more along the lines of my opinions on healthcare than most of the western medical doctors I have seen lately for my health problems. Now it is just about implementing some of the tips Dr. Leyla Ali mentions on curing ailments like pain, anxiety, respiratory issues and more. It’s a hot topic, and a good read.
