I shop at Walgreens on a regular basis for beauty, digestive health and other healthcare items. When I get a prescription for various ailments, Walgreens is my pharmacy.
I like the convenience of Walgreens, the multiple locations and the text notifications when my RX is ready. (Waiting around for a RX is not something I like to do, and Walgreens makes it easy to renew and pick up within minutes. But recently, I found a whole different reason to rave about why Walgreens is my pharmacy. Why?
They reduce my need for multiple doctor visits.
So, like many people, I suffer from recurring health issues. While some people have allergies, some people have skin concerns, or whatever it might be… I have digestive health issues.
I have gone to the doctor more times that I can count. Just look at my insurance statements. I was given relatively the same advice each time. They said my digestive health problems were due to little exercise, and not enough water. But then I would change, and would still suffer from digestion issues. I ended up trying to do my own research online of my ailments. I would Google for hours trying to decipher just what my problem might be!
I just couldn’t stand the doctor telling me the same thing one more time!
While taking things into my own hands, I found that Walgreens has a great FREE program for people like me. People with health concerns that maybe the doctor doesn’t need to be involved with.
Out of all the times I have been to Walgreens, I’ve never realized I could use the pharmacy doctors for free. I never knew I could get advice, ask questions and get help from them! I always thought I had to go into my primary care and pay my co-pay for that!
It’s called Answers at Walgreens.
I was pleasantly surprised to find I could get my healthcare questions answered from Answers at Walgreens at no charge. This is done in two different ways:
1. Interacting with a pharmacist in-store
2. Online 24/7 Chat or Phone Chat
I utilized the Walgreens 24/7 pharmacist online chat this week to ask them some of my most private questions regarding my health – my digestive issues that is!
The online pharmacist was kind and concerned. I felt she really listened and had time for me. She was informative, yet let me make my own decisions. I even asked her about a product that Walgreens doesn’t carry and she suggested I could get it from a natural vitamin store or GNC. Wow! Talk about great customer service!
The Answers at Walgreens online chat program is this: Healthcare answers. Now.
- Confidential and secure chat conversations with a pharmacy team member
- FREE expert advice 24/7 – day or night
- Print or email chat transcripts for future reference
From this chat, I felt more informed about my digestive issues. She gave me suggestions of products, and mentioned one with good reviews so far, but a little pricey. What honesty!
The pharmacist recommended some probiotics and fiber products. While fiber didn’t work for me in the past, I found out more about probiotics from the chat. I decided I would try the probiotic route for my digestive issues! The pharmacist online answered every last question and concern I had!
Wow! Who says the USA doesn’t have free health care? 😉
What the chat with a pharmacist can answer for you:
- All Walgreens store, pharmacy and health services
- Non-emergency, medication-related topics
- Potential allergic reactions
- Prescription medication side effects
- Which over-the-counter option is best for your symptoms
- And more
After I chatted with the pharmacy representative for Walgreens answers, I visited Walgreens for some probiotic products. Check out my shopping experience on my Google + Page. I found that Walgreens has booklets in each aisle that answer even more questions in a very simple way, I took the Digestive Health booklet home and got some great coupons from it! The pharmacist in-store was also willing to answer some questions I had!
My suggestion: If you are looking for some quick answers, I highly suggest becoming a Walgreens Balance® Reward member and using the FREE services they offer. The secure online chat or the in-store chat is definitely worth it! I got some honest advice and it was easy… and free!
Although, I shared with you my chat, the chats are private and confidential.
