Unexpected adventures are often the best type of an adventure. As a flight attendant, I get to travel on the cheap (and sometimes for free!). With this incredible benefit, I have been to about 12% of the world. I’ve seen amazing places such as Thailand, Greece, Ireland and Peru. I’ve made a virtual Travel Map of my travels if you want to check it out!
Since my travels are often on a stand-by bases (that is how I can get on the flights so cheap) – it is difficult to make any plans for the trip until I physically step foot in the place I am visiting! Therefore, each trip is a new unplanned adventure!
One of my favorite unplanned adventures is from a couple trips with my travel friend and college roommate, Kelli. We had no set plans when we showed up in NYC or Europe. So in both places we did the subway shuffle. Basically, this includes getting off at each subway stop in New York City and then again when we took a trip to Europe, on the Underground Metro in Barcelona, Spain. Both places have an extraordinary amount of things to do and see, and it seemed a shame to skip any stops! So we bought full day passes for the week and saw it all!
It was such an exciting moment each time we popped up out of the dark subway halls, and onto a new and fresh part of town. Sometimes we knew what was in store at the stop (the stop name would give it away) but other times everything was open for exploration.
By traveling this way, we made sure nothing was missed on our adventure. We saw the obvious tourists spots, but also hit some neat less known attractions too. Both of these trips were spent exploring under no time constrains or pre-planned. It is just fun, unexpected adventure.
Toyota motivated me to break out from the norm and discover a new route in my city. This experience taught me that there is an adventure waiting around every corner! Tell us about your unexpected adventure below for a chance to win a Tom Tom GO LIVE.
