For this post, I was provided a Hope Kit, which I am #givingback to someone in need.
This time of the year, I am more aware than ever of how blessed I really am. I have been given such a beautiful life. I have so much to be thankful for. I am boldly reminded, again and again, during this holiday season.
Because I have so much, I also have so much to give back.
I get something as much as I give something when I donate my time or money to others. It is powerful, rewarding and feels like the right thing to do. My husband and I like to choose a few organizations a year that tug at our heart, and give what we can to them.
World Vision is an organization I’ve know since I was a child. My parents were very involved with “adopting a child” and monthly donations. Lately, I’ve learned that this organization is so much more involved.
For instance, have you heard of #GivingTuesday?
Giving Tuesday is in it’s third year. On December 2, 2014 both World Vision and Thirty-One Gifts are partnering to give more than ever. They will be donating Hope Kits for the first 3,100 donations made by phone (1-888-511-6588) or online at worldvision.com.
What is a Hope Kit?
A Hope Kit is a personalized Thirty-One Gifts tote that says, “Hope”. It is filled with hygiene supplies for women and girls. Some of the items include: tooth brush, toothpaste, tampons, razor and brush. It is a very nice package.
I was sent an example Hope Kit so that I could see what they were and then give it to someone in need. The kit also includes a handwritten note from the giver. I think that is a special touch.
I now have this kit in my car, so that I can give it to someone in need. I am hoping to give it to the homeless women that I see frequently on my way to work.
The need in America is great. More than 42 million women and 28 million children either live in poverty or are on the brink of it. Who would you give it to?
