Quite honestly and for no good reason, I have never been a big beauty or makeup girl. Mainly because I have a lazy morning routine and I don't usually spend money on myself. So when I decided to write a post based on Revlon's new campaign: The Revlon Expression Experiment, I knew it would be an fitting one for me!

Revlon's new promotion is working to inspire women – push them out of their comfort zone and out of their normal beauty boundaries. They are challenging women to move beyond their everyday makeup routine and try a new look – maybe they'll be surprised by the change!

Obviously this experiment was going to be an fun one for me, since I am going from almost no makeup to wearing makeup! To help, Revlon provided me a kit with some out-of-the-ordinary makeup colors – which provided some scary challenges.

When I opened the box of the provided makeup, I found lipstick, nail polish, and more. But the colors and shades were ones I would NEVER choose to buy on my own! Therefore, I had my own personal challenge, overcoming my color obstacles. I had to look past the bright reds and oranges – and just play around. I mean, it always looks beautiful on the famous people, why not me?

So I did. I tested out the products that I would have never even given a second look too – like the Certainly Red Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick. And let me tell you, the bright red lips were something that I've never done before (I usually stick with a clear lip gloss or plain or lip moisturizer)!

While I was nervous about the INTENSE color clashing with my freckled and pale face, it really wasn't all that bad! I liked the look of my lips – full and magnificent. And oddly enough, I never thought I looked good smiling without teeth, but surprisingly, I liked my no-teeth smile now that I had this bright lip color!

So, I continued to push myself… I know that sounds silly, but it was hard! I tried an orange shade of nail polish called "Sorbet" – one of the Revlon Colorstay longwear nail enamel colors. I thought this was a nice color for Spring or Summer. I loved the thick look of the polish – very professional! I can't wait to try other colors from the Revlon Colorstay line.

Next was the eyes. On a daily basis, I typically don't wear any eyeshadow. If I feel like going above and beyond, I wear some nude shades on my eye lids and a touch of mascara. Not today though… I was breaking beauty boundaries! I tested the wilder of the two eyeshadows I received - the palate called, Inspired. The product had 4 colors and on the back of the container was a helpful guide on how to apply!

Revlon definitely got me to challenge myself. I was surprised by my changes, and liked the results. I felt like I overcame some makeup fears – bright colors – and now I am not afraid to break out of my simple and basic routine. That is the great thing about Revlon – they provide the tools for women to express themselves in a new and unique way. With makeup you can be glamorous, luxurious, simple or sweet. There is no limit to the look you can rock! So what do you think?
