2012 is a leap year, with 366 days instead of the usual 365 days! The day that is added is on February 29th!
What is up with Leap Year Anyway?
Blame it on the ancient Egyptians who first discovered the solar year and realized the man-made calendar year didn’t match!
The fact is, it takes the Earth a little longer than a year to travel around the Sun — 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes, and 46 seconds, to be exact.
Therefore, as the hours accumulated, an extra day was occasionally added to the calendar. Over time the practice became official.
The Romans were the first to designate the date of February 29 as leap day. The precise formula (still in use today) was adopted in the 16th century when the Gregorian calendar fine-tuned the calculations to include a leap day in years only divisible by four – 2012, 2016, 2020, etc.
Celebrities Born on a Leap Year?
With 1 in 1,461 chances of being born on February 29th… I found this famous “leapling” (leapling is the name for babies born on leap day) … celebrity rapper, Ja Rule Born in 1976. (Although there are 4 million other people in the world born on Leap Day, February 29th!)
You Go Girl! Leap Year Tradition!
The tradition of women romantically pursuing men in leap years began in 5th century Ireland, when St. Bridget complained to St. Patrick about having to wait for men to propose. According to the legend, St. Patrick relented and dedicated February 29 aside as the day that allowed women the right to ask for a man’s hand in marriage.
The Irish tradition continued in Scotland, when Queen Margaret declared in 1288 that on February 29 a woman had the right to pop the question to any man she fancied. Menfolk who refused were faced with a fine in the form of a kiss, a silk dress, or a pair of gloves given to the rejected lady fair!
A similar modern American tradition, Sadie Hawkins Day. As the story goes, Sadie and every other woman in town were allowed on that day to pursue and catch the most eligible bachelors and propose marriage. (WHOA! And I just thought it was about a school dance when girls ask the boys!)

Although it isn’t a major holiday, and you won’t be getting sympathy for your boss if you try to take it off, you should celebrate… because remember, the next time to celebrate leap year isn’t until February 29, 2016! That’s 1,460 days from now!

For instance, I love the Navy Geo pattern – and found so many cute items with this same pattern! Beach bags, headbands, flip flops and more! If I wanted, I could be completely matchy-matchy! 
With so many cute options, it was hard to choose something to review! Finally, I decided on the Navy Geo Bell Sleeve Tunic, because of my impending trip to Cancun, Mexico. (So excited!)
This dress is soon to be my go-to beach dress! I feel in love with this dress as soon as I took it out of the wrapping! I think it is the perfect “Beach to Bar” item to represent their line. 
The packaging for the Navy Geo Bell Sleeve Tunic was simple. The dress came securely wrapped in a plastic gift bag with a Mud Pie tag. The plastic bag kept it clean and protected during shipping. When I unfolded the dress out of the bag, I was pleasantly surprised with many details of the Navy Geo Bell Sleeve Tunic.
First thing I noticed was the style of the dress. I loved the length. The bottom of the skirt hit just above the knee, for a modest, but nice length. The pattern, which I was worried could get a bit busy, looked good on! The pattern is so fun – a unique navy and white geometric-like shape design. When up close, it might be a bit distracting, but when I wear it, it is absolutely adorable! 
This tunic dress has a cute ruffle trim along its deep “V” neckline. This feature adds some flirty flair and needed texture to the dress. Hitting just below the bust, is a easy adjustable tie. The drawstring tie allows for adjusting the fit of the dress. You can choose to wear it loose or tight. The drawstring tie separates the top of the dress from the bottom skirt portion of the dress, with an empire waist type look.
In my opinion, the empire waist style is very flattering. It falls right below the bust, accentuating the top half and distracting from any tummy bulge you might have! Making this dress, the perfect bathing suit cover up!
The 100% linen dress is easy to wash in the washing machine – just use cold water to avoid fading. The dress weighs almost nothing, which makes it ideal for traveling to those warm beach resorts! 
Mud Pie really has some of the most adorable styles and patterns. This tunic dress included. I look forward to each of Mud Pie’s new lines, and think that they’ve really hit the spot with these new additions!

In my FIVE years of being a flight attendant, I have flown with some interesting characters (no I am not talking about the passengers, I am talking about my co-workers!) Passengers are a whole different post!
Anyway, out of all the ditzy, odd, and star-wars obsessed (yes) flight attendants I’ve flown with, I cannot say I’ve flown with “BON QUI QUI” yet….
I’ll let you know if I do though! (As of now, we don’t fly in-out of Detroit though!)

10 New Uses for Newspaper “Newspaper, by design, is a very absorbent product, because it has to absorb ink. But that also means it is equipped to absorb all sorts of moisture, including moisture and the resulting odors found in shoes and vegetable drawers," says Chris Morrissey, vice president of marketing for Sun Chemical, in Northlake, Illinois, the world’s largest printing-ink manufacturer.
1. Deodorize food containers. Stuff a balled-up piece of newspaper into a lunch box or thermos, seal it, and let sit overnight.
2. Ripen tomatoes. Wrap them individually and leave them out at room temperature.
3. Pack delicate items.Wrap frames and figurines with several pieces of newspaper, then crumple the remaining sections to fill extra space in the box.
4. Wipe away tough streaks on glass.Use newspaper with cleaning fluid to clean mirrors and windows.
5. Preserve antique glass. Some older frames have finishes on the glass that can be damaged by cleaning solutions. Remove smudges by rubbing with newspaper dipped in a solution of one part white vinegar and one part warm water. Let air-dry.
6. Dry shoes. Place crumpled paper in them overnight.
7. Wrap gifts. Use the comics to wrap a child’s birthday gift, or try the wedding announcements for an engagement gift.
8. Create a home for slushy snow boots. During the winter, keep a pile of newspaper near the entryway. When your little snowmen and -women come home, they can toss their winter wear onto the newspaper instead of creating puddles on the floor.
9. Prepare a garden. In the fall, mow a patch of lawn to make room for a dedicated bed. Cover it with four layers of newspaper, then a four-inch layer of shredded leaves or bark mulch. Hose it down. Come spring, the compost blanket will have smothered the grass roots, and the bed will be primed for planting.
10. Keep the refrigerator vegetable drawer dry and free of smells. Line the bottom with newspaper.

I was wandering the streets of Palm Springs, CA… when I saw a sign for “Everything in this Store is $15”. I looked in the window and saw jackets, shoes, jewelry and more. I was very intrigued! I went in and couldn’t believe the entire store was filled with cute CUTE items for just $15!
I was in heaven at Heavenly Couture, but sadly I don’t live in California, I live in Colorado! So their cute boutiques weren’t at my disposal at all times… until I realized they have (almost) the same concept online!
Heavenly Couture online has many of the same junior trendy clothes that I loved in their physical shop. They have some clothes cheaper and some more expensive than $15… but not by much! I couldn’t find anything more than $20 on this wholesale clothing store! Many of the teen clothing has a savings of up to 85%!
I have the A & Co. Satin Pleats Tube Dress from www.getheavenly.com and it is BY FAR one of the cutest dresses I own! It fits snug and hugs my curves, especially my hips. The fabric is thick and since it is a pleat like design – it hides my flaws well! I honestly can’t believe this dress is only $14.95!
I choose the dress in purple, because I have so much black and white already, but this dress comes in two other colors: all-black and all-white. I think all three are great choices!
This strapless dress has a bit of a heart-shaped (or sweetheart) neckline, which can be very flattering. The dress zips down the side, so the zipper is discreet. The dress is comfortable and form-fitting. The shell is made of 97% Cotton and 3% Spandex. Although there is a small amount of spandex, I couldn’t get it to stretch much… that might be due to the lining which is inside and 100% Polyester.

“Well if this works this might just be the greatest cleaning invention EVER”, those were my words as I read about the new SC Johnson Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner.
If you are like me, you hate cleaning the bathrooms. It is my LEAST favorite chore. Stick me with dusting, vacuuming, picking up dog poop in the backyard… 
I just despise the bathroom. So when I heard about two new products from Scrubbing Bubbles that weren’t cleaning sprays, gels or foams… but automatic cleaners, I was excited! That’s right, cleaning units with just the touch of a button! They do the cleaning for you!
The Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner boasted these benefits:
For $19.99 this shower cleaner could keep my shower clean for a month? No need to scrub and scrub the shower on my knees for hours upon hours? Not a bad idea.
I tested the device immediately! The kit included one dual sprayer and one bottle of cleaner solution. There was what felt like a lot of stuff included in the packaging, but once I pieced it together (less than a minute) it was quite self explanatory. The only thing that is not included are 4 AA batteries you’ll need to run the unit. After you’ve put it together, it’s again, a no-brainer from there. You press the button daily to keep the shower clean.
You can start using it on a dirty shower to clean the shower (use the dual dose button), or on a clean shower to continue to keep it clean (use the single dose button). I was fairly impressed with it’s ability to clean scum, mold and mildew stains. I began using it on a clean shower and the build up of dirt didn’t appear as quickly as it does without it. The sprayer seems to reach a good amount of area, but still misses a small amount of the corner edges and under the ledge. 
Before using it, the question my husband had, and maybe you do too, “How will I not get sprayed?” Well, you can rest as ease, that you will stay clean after your shower and won’t be sprayed by this device because it won’t begin for 15 seconds – it beeps before starting! And if you accidentally press the button – you can stop it within 15 seconds, by pressing the button again.
If you ask me (which you didn’t, but I AM writing a review) than I would tell you this is a pretty nifty device. It isn’t perfect, but it WILL be saving us time and hard work of cleaning the shower scum. Also, it isn’t badly priced… I usually spend a good amount on shower cleaner anyway… AND have to do all the work! Also, since this is a new product you can find it on sale at many stores and I’ve seen some good coupons for it too! So just keep your eye out for the deals, so you can test it yourself inexpensively… then be hooked too!
