Epsom Salt is like magic! Did you know this product can be a quick, simple solution for pampering, gardening, and healthy living? Yes, indeed!

For Pampering

• Glowing skin exfoliating treatment: Mix 2 cups of Epsom Salt with 1/4 cup of petroleum jelly and a few drops of lavender (or your favorite) essential oil. Use the mixture to gently scrub away dry skin patches.
• Microdermabrasion Facial: Mix 1/2 teaspoon of Epsom Salt into cleansing cream for a deep pore cleansing. Massage onto skin. Rinse with cool water and then pat dry.
• Bathtime Bliss: Add 2 cups of Epsom Salt to the water in a standard-sized bathtub; soak for at least 12 minutes, 3x weekly. For an extra treat, add a few drops of eucalyptus oil for a refreshing scent!
• Pedicure Perfection: Dissolve a 1/2 cup of Epsom Salt into 2 quarts of warm water. Pour the water into a container and soak your feet for 15 – 20 minutes. For an extra treat, add a few drops of eucalyptus oil for a refreshing scent. Massage your entire foot with Epsom Salt concentrating on the heels and ankles to remove any dry, rough spots. Then, rinse your feet off with clean tap water and dry them thoroughly.
• Homemade Bath Crystals: Mix 2 cups of Epsom Salt with a few drops of fragrance to create custom bath crystals. Add a few drops of food coloring of 1/2 teaspoon of glycerin. Store in an air tight container.

For Gardening

Did you know Epsom Salt helps seed germinate, makes plants grow bushier, produces more flowers and increases chlorophyll production? Not only that it, but it deters pests, such as slugs and voles (both of which you don’t want in your garden!)

• Houseplants: 2 tablespoons per gallon of water; feed plants monthly.
• Tomatoes: 1 tablespoon per foot of plant height per plant; apply every 2 weeks.
• Roses: 1 tablespoon per foot of plant height per plant; apply every 2 weeks. Also, scratch 1/2 cup into soil to encourage flowering canes and healthy new basal can growth. Soak unplanted bushes in 1 cup of Epsom Salt per gallon of water to help roots recover. Add 1 tablespoon of Epsom Salt to each hole at planting time. Spray with Epsom Salt solution weekly to discourage pests.
• Shrubs (evergreens, azaleas, rhododendron): 1 tablespoon per 9 square feet. Apply over root zone every 2-4 weeks.
• Lawns: Apply 3 pounds for every 1,250 square feet with a spreader, or dilute in water and apply with a sprayer.
• Trees: Apply 2 tablespoons per 9 square feet. Apply over the root zone 3x annually.
• Garden Startup: Sprinkle 1 cup per 100 square feet. Mix into soil before planting.

After Exercising

Epsom Salt is magnesium sulfate. The sulfate itself help form joint proteins and helps keep joints healthy, flushes toxins, and improves absorption of nutrients. Magnesium regulates more than 325 enzymes in the body, performing more functions than almost any other mineral. It can reduce inflammation to relive plain and muscle cramps, it helps muscles and nerves function properly and helps prevent artery hardening and blood clots – as well as other benefits!

• Ease Muscle Pain and Fading Bruises: Add 2 cups of Epsom Salt to warm water in a standard-sized bathtub (double the Epsom Salt for a larger tub) and bathe 3x weekly, soaking for at least 12 minutes. It can also be made into a compress.
• Soothe Feet Aches: Add 1 cup of Epsom Salt to a tub or warm water and soak your feet!

There are so many things you can do with Epsom salt!! I am excited to test this on my garden next year in the Spring! We grow multiple pepper plants, and it is proven and recommended by the national Gardening Association to make pepper plant grow larger than those that are treated with commercial fertilizer! (Plus, it is natural so I don’t mind using it!)
