I really love simple, tasteful apparel on babies and Shannon, the owner of Rascal Threads does just that! Her clothing is customized, and even hand stitched for a totally unique look. Each onesie is also made of organic cotton which is important to me for my son’s delicate little skin.

Her shop first caught my eye when I saw this onesie with a bright Norwegian flag on it. I happen to be Norwegian and I also happen to be very proud. I have looked high and low for something like this for my 8 month old son, with no luck, until now!

I received the onesie in a size 12 month so it would fit him a little longer. It fit perfectly over a long sleeve top, pretty similar to his 9 month clothing. I absolutely love the bold cloth so delicately sewn on with a cute stitched border.

This is one fun way to show off your pride and it’s not often I come across something like this. You can customize these shirts to represent any flag!!

I also really love their onesie with crocheted flowers..so feminine and pretty. I am in the midst of trying to figure out how to crochet myself right now and I can attest to the hard work.

Ya know what? As I get older, I realize how important it is so take care of my body. Back when I was in college I didn’t think much about this (surprise, surprise) … now I try to get enough sleep, try to drink fluids (I am still bad at plain water) and take daily vitamins.

I did a complete 180° change in vitamin intake in the last few years – going from a rare vitamin C (maybe when I had a cold!), to a vitamin regimen with daily vitamins and other supplements. Living in the Seattle area can mean a lot of unpredictable weather and although summer is on it’s way, we still have quite a few chilly and rainy days. I couldn’t pass up the chance to review these adorable ‘Soft Brown Leather Baby Boots’.

Fettuccini Bolognese

Who doesn’t love pasta? We sure do in our house! I have to admit though, I’m often a “jarred sauce” kind of gal due to lack of time. This homemade sauce is easy, and you’ll be glad you carved out a few extra minutes.

Ingredients:

1 Tbs. Canola Oil

1 Onion, chopped

2 Cloves of garlic, minced

1 lb. ground turkey breast

1/4 tsp. salt

1 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes, undrained ( I used two because we love tomatoes!)

1 large carrot, shredded

3 Tbs. tomato paste

1 Tbs. dried Italian seasoning

1/4 Cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 lb. fettuccini, broken in half ( I used organic, whole wheat)

Make it:

1. Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat; sauté onion for 4 minutes. Toss in garlic; sauté for 1 minute. Add turkey and salt; continue to cook for 4 minutes more or until turkey is cooked through, stirring to break up the turkey. Mix in undrained tomatoes, carrot, tomato paste, and Italian seasoning. Bring to a boil.

2. Partially cover the saucepan, reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in Parmesan cheese. Cover completely and cook for 20 minutes more, stirring occasionally.

3. During the last 20 minutes of cooking the sauce, boil the fettuccini according to the package directions. drain. Spoon the sauce over the noodles.

Serve with a green salad and some garlic bread for a delicious meal

I don’t think much about chip clips… I never had a reason to. Then I tested the GRIPSTIC™ – a new type of chip clip. I reviewed these food clips in 3 different sizes and here are my thoughts:

Is the GRIPSTIC™ better than your average chip clip?

Well that depends. The GRIPSTIC™ does work well. It has full coverage on the top of a bag (more than just a little clip) which is beneficial in keeping food fresh. It can grip snacks of all sizes – that is if you buy all of the GRIPSTIC™ sizes.

Compared to a chip clip or a rubber band -I like that they are less bulky than a chip clip and that they don’t stink like rubber bands do. Ewww. Seriously, have you ever wrapped up your food with a rubber band? Your food will smell like rubber band! That just grosses me out. So a HUGE bonus for no-rubber-band stink!

The GRIPSTIC™ can seal chip bags, snack bags, coffee bags, cereal bags, frozen food bags, veggie bags, baking and dry ingredients bags, and more!

But, I do find it annoying trying to find the size that fits the package the best. And what if you are already using that size on another bag? I am kind of a OCD person regarding organization and it would bug the heck out of me to have a too long of GRIPSTIC™ on a bag of chips, so it seems you need to have quite a few in stock. But maybe that is just me?Overall, I think they are easy to use, reusable and lock the entire top of the bag for a good seal. GRIPSTIC™ is a good solution from clips or bands to keep snacks fresh longer.

Creamy Enchiladas with Philadelphia Cooking Crème Recipe

I made these easy creamy chicken enchiladas the other night and must say they came out delicious! All you need is a few ingredient and it doesn’t take long! Prepare for a cheesy concoction…What You’ll Need:

1 onion, chopped
2 tablespoons oil
3 cups shredded cooked chicken breasts
1 can of Rotel (tomatoes and chilies), or fresh tomatoes, jalapenos and fresh chilies!!
1 tub (10 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Santa Fe Blend Cooking Crème
1 cup Mexican Style Shredded Cheese
8 flour tortillas (6 inch)

Review: New! Ziploc VersaGlass

When reviewing food storage containers there are a few basic elements I am looking for. How well does it hold in liquids? Is the container shape convenient? Is it multifunctional? Etc.

I tested out the New! Ziploc^® VersaGlass™ – medium square shape container and want to answer those important questions and more. So, read on readers…

How well does Ziploc^® VersaGlass™ hold in liquids?

Bummer, the Ziploc VersaGlass is disappointing when it comes to the upside down test. I tested it with water (I’m not a risk-taker people!) and when I flipped it over a few times it had a slow drip leak. Although the lid feels secure on the container, it didn’t hold in all the liquid.

This would be a very bad thing it you had a soup, sauces or any other thin liquids. You might not want to use it for traveling, lunch boxes or in your purse. You don’t want to risk the messy clean-up!

Is the Ziploc^® VersaGlass™ container shape convenient?

The container sizes: small rectangle, small round, tall round, medium square, large square, medium rectangle, and a variety pack that includes small round, medium square, and large square. There is a shape for every small dish – from marinating chicken breasts to meatloaf!

The smallest container is small round – 13 (1-1/2 cups) fl. oz. and the largest is the large square 64 fl. oz. (8 cups). No cooking a full meal in these, they’re just big enough for 1-3 left-over portions!

These containers are made of thick and sturdy glass, they stack in one another. With limited room in my kitchen, this is a huge plus for me!

Is the Ziploc^® VersaGlass™ multifunctional?

This container has a lot good things going for it when it comes to multi-purposes! Unlike plastic containers, this container is great in the oven, microwave, refrigerator and freezer! It is dishwasher safe and both the lid and the bowl are suitable in low and high temperatures! (Oven safe up to 400°F (204°C), without lid). Also, this container is a lot more pleasing to the eye when using it as a serving dish, compared to the plastic containers!
