Shokay – Completely stunning hand knit items

Classic-Shawl

Shokay … style with a touch of humanity

–considers every thread of the way.

Soft, delicate, stunning… I feel like I am holding a piece of heaven in my hands. Honestly, I said heaven. I am holding the most gorgeous hand warmer gloves from Shokay – I just got them in the mail. I can’t stop caressing them!

Made from 100% Yak this fabric is compared to cashmere, if not softer!! The luxury “yak down” is hand combed from yaks in the pristine Himalayan regions of China! Shokay gets the fiber directly from Tibetan herders, which enables these people to earn a sustainable income. I have never owned Bonjour-Mittensanything made from yak, and I must say I am impressed with the soft texture and insulating qualities!

These ‘one of a kind’ gloves just continue to impress me, not only are they uniquely made out of yak, but they are hand knit with a special touch. The tag on the gloves name the knitter who made my gloves! My hand warmer gloves were knitted by Mei Juan Shi and I can even look at her profile biography online! Check out behind the product – it really makes you appreciate the little things about the product.

From the fabric, to the hand made quality  – these gloves are stunning! I can definitely tell they are made with care and precision. They are beautiful in every way.

Rose-ClutchShokay has lots more gorgeous winter item on their site.

One of my favorite items is the tafetta shawl, hand knit from yak down. It is priced at $250 and is completely gorgeous – perfect for any autumn outfit. You could literally wear this with your ugliest shirt and ripped up jeans and still look spectacular! I am not kidding… see it for yourself! Another item that I just can’t stop admiring is the Rose Clutch. This clutch isn’t just any typical clutch, it is impressively hand knit from yak and bamboo yarns and is priced at $65. Being the girly girly that I am, I’m obsessed with the little rose embellishments …so cute …so feminine! They also hand make a Rose Coin Purse that would make a perfect stocking stuffer to go along with the Rose Clutch Christmas gift!

Shokay is a one stop shop for a gift that is meaningful, unique and completely stunning. If you want to impress someone with your thoughtfulness and fashion skills, browse Shokay’s selection, you’ll find something absolutely perfect for the special person on your list. They have a number of items for the home, for her and for him as well as yak yard! Knitters-you absolutely must check out all the beautiful yak yarn.

Get Your Own!! North America has a select few stores where you can items in person. Check out where the closest store may be on the Where To Buy page. Of course, you can always purchase any of Shokay’s items online – check out their top picks!Shokay-Logo-125x125

*Closed* Giveaway! $20 GC for Inspire your Walls Decals {Ends 12/12}

Inspire-Your-Walls-Logo

Wall Decals are a great way to express yourself. From a time-honored quote to a meaningful bible verse, you can easily represent your feelings on the wall. And with a great company name like, Inspire Your Walls, how can you not be inspired?

Inspire Your Walls has a great selection of Wall Art at very reasonable prices, VERY reasonable! They pride themselves on having the lowest prices online for vinyl wall art. They believe that it shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg to inspire creativity. imageThere are so many places to put a wall decal, in the bathroom, in the front room, or over the sink. Or what about the Childrens Room?  Kids grow so quickly…so why not change their walls to reflect their current style? Especially when it is cheap and easy décor!Laundry-room-colors-of-fun-decal

My review: Our laundry room is blah. There is the washer and dryer, an ironing board and a basket. It is boring as boring can be. So, I put my trust in Inspire Your Walls to help me liven up my laundry room. I wasn’t worried if I didn’t like it because the vinyl material goes on like a sticker and the lettering is 100% safe and removable! Therefore, I could add some wow with Wall Words without hesitation! (Luckily I loved how it came out!)

I like positive quotes, uplifting statements and words that make me think twice. I didn’t really think I would find that for the laundry room though. But sure enough they had something. The decal “It all comes out in the wash” I love it because it has a few meanings to me, I think about karma and doing good onto others. The “dirty laundry” wall decal is reasonably priced at $16.99, it is 10’’x24’’ and you choose the color of the decal.

Computer Cleaning Reviews: Cyber Clean High Tech Solution

Cyber-Clean-Pot

Count down to a clean computer….

Eat over my keyboard? Guilty. Sneezed on my keyboard? Yuck and guilty. OK, let’s admit it, there is a lot of nastiness around our computer keyboards.

Cyber-Clean-on-KeyboardIn fact, some keyboards have FIVE times more bugs and bacteria than a toilet!! Research was conducted on 33 keyboards in a single office. The keyboards tested had 150 times the acceptable limit of bacteria, which roughly would be 5 times dirtier than the average toilet seat. The grossest part was that two keyboards had high levels of coliform, which is found with feces.

Are you beginning to wonder when exactly the last time was that you actually cleaned your keyboard? For safe measures, let’s go ahead and clean my keyboard now.Cyber-Clean-before-and-after

I tested Cyber Clean – the only cleaning compound that can reach inside all of those difficult to reach places and remove all those nasty and harmful things while cleaning on contact.

It was simple. I just removed the goo-slime looking Cyber Clean, massaged it in my hands for 30 seconds and smashed it into my keyboard!! Dust, dirt and dog hairs came off easy– they stuck right into the Cyber Clean glob!! I folded the dirt into the glob and continued moving all over my keyboard. Cyber Clean left the surfaces clean, and was able to get the loose stuff without a hitch! The dirt that was stuck on it had a bit of trouble with. You can see how it worked in the above picture! It definitely got the majority off! It gets off dirt, dust, hair, food, or whatever else is in that keyboard!

Cyber Clean can be used over and over again for your home electronics: cell phones, keyboards, remotes, in your car vents and crannies or even in your shoes!! It is safe for any surface. I highly recommend this for a stocking stuffer this holiday! It is a great gift from anyone who uses the computer at work, home or has their own personal laptop. Priced around $5.99, you can’t beat it.

Connect with Cyber Clean on facebook, twitter and watch their products being tested on YouTube!

Get Your Own!! You can buy it on CyberClean.tv from as little as $5.99 or at Amazon – cyber clean home, office or automobile.

A deployed dad… an article that brought tears to my eyes.

The Stewart family deploys a novel solution to stay close to Dad By Brad Dunn – Story is from Parade.com

** Note: This story is taken directly from Parade.com. I had to share it with you! It is a beautiful story – both made me smile and cry! Make sure to check out the Stewart’s website afterward (I browsed the Stewarts site and pictures for another 45 minutes!) **

Family portrait: Jeff, Joel, Marissa, and Mira with Flat Jared. [Photo: Adrianne Stewart]

Stewarts-Family-Picture-parade.comWhen her husband shipped out to Iraq in August 2008, Marissa Stewart knew nothing could replace Daddy for her three young children. Still, she was afraid they would start to forget about their father. How could she fill the void he left behind?

Today, she points to a lifelike, life-size photo of U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Jared Stewart perched on a chair in her Seattle living room. “That bit of foam board has brought a lot of peace to our family,” she says.
Before Jared left, Marissa saw a story about Flat Daddies—a group that provides large images of deployed servicemen and -women for their families—and decided a Flat Jared might help Jeff, Joel, and Mira through the tough transition. She ordered one, and the boys, then 6 and 3, fell in love with the cutout. They played games with it, dressed it in costumes, and propped it up at the dinner table. Marissa, 32, was surprised by the boys’ enthusiasm and wanted to share it with her husband. She started a blog called “A Year with Flat Daddy” and posted photos of Flat Jared, or “ FJ,” in funny scenes around Spokane, Wash., where they lived until last summer. From 7000 miles away in Ramadi, Iraq, the real Jared could check the blog and see himself still at play with his kids back home.

“A Year with Flat Daddy” is now in its 27th month. Real Jared, 35, has been home for only one extended stay, while Flat Jared gets more wear and tear every day. He’s been trick-or-treating and even sledding in Spokane. He’s attended soccer games and the first day of school. He ran a 12K race on his brother Jordan’s back. He slides down slides, plays hide-and-seek, goes to the movies, and sits on Santa’s lap.
“It’s good he’s gotten so beat-up, because it means we’ve taken him lots of places,” says Jeff, now 8.
In fact, the Stewarts are rarely without their 2-D dad, so they tend to attract attention wherever they go. “People see us—three rambunctious kids, a foam-board soldier, and a stressed-out mom trying to keep it together—and feel compelled to say something,” Marissa observes. “They’ll say, ‘God bless your family,’ or tell the children, ‘Your dad is so brave.’”

FJ also inspires humor. Women will say he looks like the ideal husband—strong and silent—for which Marissa has a stock reply: “Yeah, but he doesn’t lift a finger around the house.”

Many reactions are solemn. “We were at Chuck E. Cheese’s one time, and Mira wouldn’t sit still for a photo with her dad,” Marissa says. “Two teenage girls tried to help by distracting her. I saw their parents watching us. The father smiled at me but got choked up and had to look away. Finally, the mother came over and just said thank you.”
Although FJ provides solace at critical times, Marissa has faced many of the family’s toughest challenges alone. Jeff was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome two years ago and undergoes regular therapy. Mira was hospitalized with a severe rotavirus infection at 18 months. Marissa also had to take on part-time work as a transportation security officer to make ends meet.
“It’s hard raising three kids and going through the tough stuff alone,” she says. “But Jared’s job is to focus on his work, to protect himself and his troops. My job is to hold down the fort back home.”
The worst moment was when Marissa’s car was stolen with Flat Jared inside. Police found the vehicle in a field and FJ bent and broken in the mud. “The kids were devastated,” Marissa says. “We put a lot of symbolism and love into that foam board. They said, ‘Why would someone hurt our dad?’”

A stranger read about the incident online and anonymously donated a new Flat Jared. Today, the replacement FJ smiles as he always has, sitting next to the kids at their favorite pizza place. Joel, now 5, says the best part of a Flat Daddy isn’t the silly pictures or games. “It’s that I can tell him ‘I miss you’ and ‘I love you’ anytime I want…I can hug him, too.”

At press time, Real Jared was due home by Thanksgiving, more than two years after leaving his family. When he returns, Marissa says, FJ will go in the garage—but if rumors of another overseas deployment come true, FJ may need to come out again.

“There’s definitely a flip side to all this,” she says. “Here’s a big picture of someone who might not come back again, a daily reminder of everything we could lose. Jeff is aware of the elephant in the room. He knows there’s a chance his dad won’t come home.” Marissa pauses, holding back tears. “But no matter what happens, I’d rather have Flat Daddy photos and memories than have my kids slowly forgetting about their dad.”

Mira finishes a chocolate sundae and gives her foam-board father a kiss on the nose. “Oh, be careful!” Marissa says, grabbing a napkin. “We don’t want to get chocolate on Daddy.”
“It’s okay, Mommy,” the 3-year-old replies, smiling wide. “He likes chocolate.”
“I can’t tell you how much this photo means to them,” Marissa says. “Jared has missed all three of Mira’s birthdays, but her first word was still ‘Daddy.’”

Tropical Traditions Organic Palm Shortening

Tropical Traditions! ( I love this company and their products!)
Tropical Traditions is a great resource for anything-coconut and more! They have been my one stop shop for coconut chips, virgin coconut oil, and now organic palm shortening. When browsing this site I am just amazed by all of the products that are made from a coconut base (dishwashing detergent and laundry soap) isn’t that crazy? They have it all from organic food, to skin care products and household goods.

The company began with a husband and wife duo that had their family’s health in mind. This mindset didn’t change when they started selling to others. They still have a strong commitment to family farming and organic standards. They are dedicated  to using traditional practices to produced healthy coconut oil instead of machines like most large companies. It is made by hand and benefiting families in the rural areas of the Philippines where the coconuts grow.

Tropical-Traditions-Palm-Shortening

What is Palm Shortening?
Palm shortening is derived from palm oil (read about Virgin Palm Oil here). In its natural state, palm oil is a mixture of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids, with most of the unsaturated fat being monounsaturated fat. Palm shortening is palm oil that has some of its unsaturated fats removed, giving it a very firm texture, and high melting point. The melting point of our Organic Palm Shortening is 97 degrees F., making it very shelf stable. It is NOT hydrogenizes, and contains NO trans fats! It is great for deep-fat frying and baking, and is not prone to rancidity. Since it has been separated from some of the unsaturated portion of the oil, it is colorless and odorless, and will not affect the taste of foods like Virgin Palm Oil does. If taste is needed in applications, then Virgin Coconut Oil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, or Sesame Oil can be added for great baked or fried foods!

My review: I can easily use this palm shortening for baking and deep fat frying. It is shelf stable with a high melting point. I am thrilled it contains no trans fatty acids. It is the healthy fats and oils – saturated fats, which are in tropical oils like palm and coconut, as well as butter. I used organic palm shortening for greasing pie  pans and side dishes for our Thanksgiving feast – and it worked great! I didn’t even make a dent in this SEVEN pound tub!! This tub will last me a long time!! YAY!!

Free Virgin Coconut Oil Book with purchase!
Tropical Traditions has a terrific referral program. If you make a first-time purchase and say you were referred by a friend (me) User ID: 6417979 on your online order you will receive a FREE copy of Virgin Coconut Oil Book -it has over 85 recipes! *Closed* Giveaway! Cradle Rock CD US and CA {Ends 12/8}

Keeping both parents and children in mind, Tree Top Records came up with a genius musical idea. This idea turned into ‘Cradle Rock’ lullabies. These lullabies are replications of entire albums or a collection of hits from various artists like Johnny Cash and Michael Jackson.

Thrillaby-Cradle-Rock“Thrillaby” – Michael Jackson

The baby in your life will love drifting off to dreamland with this collection of lullabies based on Michael Jackson’s Thriller.  Following the iconic album’s track list from start to finish, these pop-flavored lullabies are your little one’s perfect introduction to the irresistible melodies of the King of Pop.  So tell those other boring lullaby albums to beat it, and let your pretty (or handsome) young thing enjoy the soothing grooves of Thrillaby instead.
Track List – 1. Wanna Be Startin’ Something  2. Baby Be Mine   3. The Girl Is Mine  4. Thriller  5. Beat It  6. Billie Jean  7. Human Nature  8. P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)  9. The Lady In My Life

“I crawl the line” – Johnny CashI-crawl-the-line-cradle-rock-johnny-cash

In the history of country music, there has arguably never been a voice as distinctive and far-reaching as that of Johnny Cash.  Now with this collection of lullabies based on The Legend of Johnny Cash, Volume One, your little guy no longer has to cry, cry, cry himself to sleep to the same old boring tunes. Whether you have a girl named Billy or a boy named Sue, your baby is sure to love crawling the line with these lullabies inspired by the original Man in Black.
Track List – 1. Cry Cry Cry  2. Folsom Prison Blues   3. Walk the Line  4. Ring of Fire  5. Jackson  6. Boy Named Sue  7. Rusty Cage  8. I’ve Been Everywhere  9. The Man Comes Around  10. Hurt

“No shoes, no diaper…might be a problem” – Kenny Chesney

No-shoes,-No-diaper...Might-be-a-problemThis collection of lullabies based on Kenny Chesney songs is truly a reflection of his greatest work.  Every song was a Number One country single with the exception of Young and No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems, both of which clocked in at Number Two on the charts.  So when the sun goes down, let your little one drift off to sleep with this soothing collection of country hits.  In the summertime or anytime… no shoes, no shirt, no problems. Just don’t forget the diaper.
Track List – 1. Out Last Night  2. Living Life In Fast Forward   3. Young  4. Summertime  5. Beer In Mexico  6. There Goes My Life  7. When the Sun Goes Down  8. No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems   9. The Good Stuff  10. Never Wanted Nothing More

My Review:

These CDs appeal to adults because they are songs we love and have grown up with. These CDs appeal to babies and children because of the soft lullaby format. I love that both babies and parents can enjoy the music together. When often times baby lullabies are boring old traditional songs, these CDs give lullabies some life.

The songs were very recognizable – some just look longer than others to figure out. I did have to look at the back cover a few times on the Johnny Cash CD because I am less familiar with his music.  Michael Jackson’s “Beat it” was fun and more upbeat song – but still had the lullaby tune. I liked the Kenny Chesney CD the most. I knew these songs the best and could follow them seamlessly (maybe because I was in love with the music of Kenny Chesney all throughout college).

Tree Top Records will be adding to their collection, so you are sure to not get bored when listening to these night after night. Cradle Rock albums in development include U2’s “The Joshua Sleep Tree,” Black Eyed Peas’ “Sleep-pea Hits” as well as lullaby albums inspired by Nickelback, Carrie Underwood and The Eagles to name a few. Take my word for it or preview the songs on iTunes before you buy!!

Get Your Own!! You can buy a copy for 11.98 or download a copy for $9.98 at Tree Top Records or on iTunes. Bonus – when you order the CD, you also get a link allowing you to download the entire album immediately!

Win Your Own!! Check out how to win your own by following the directions below!
